My favorite fan-made eeveelutions I’ve seen so far. The designs are inventive and so well-made, that the artist did not need to label which type each was. They’re simple and straight forward.

Oh my goodness, the Ghost type one…I just wanna hold it~

I’m going to tag it this time so I don’t lose it

Game Freak, pleeeeeeeese use these!

Ms Nonsense? Syl? I might need to chat, real quick…Along with the rest of that site…

I’ve accidentally let a couple of posts slip into this blog before I was ready…

Well, it’s from here because I’m slowly building this: http://www.tumblr.com/blog/ppbdevu

And this, although that’s something else entirely: http://www.tumblr.com/blog/epgdev

The Might of Mike

I knew I was on to something.

So, Mike is my watcher. The Jedi Master to my Padawan. The Sheppard to my flock. The third thing to my something that relies on the third thing.

He is my mentor.

So, I was glad that, when I told him my little collision problem, he suggested the same thing I figured I’d do: set-up a way of switching off collision in all but one direction.

I know it sounds like sarcasm but it’s genuinely not. If we both think that’ll work, then It’s likely to work, right?

Right?

Well, it’s that or set up a punching bag next to me whenever I code to take my rabid fury when the code misbehaves for no obvious reason.

Everyday I’m Shuffling Forwards

By this rate, I’ll have something playable by Christmas….2015.

The collision detection system I now have is playing ball. I know have a system where the player character will be stopped by a wall.

The only issue is that he’ll also be completely paralysed by the same wall.

The collision detection is looking for an intersection of the wall and the player’s hit-box. When the shapes crossover, the player is stopped. The problem is that the player now has their hit-box three or four pixels inside the wall. Because of this, it means that collision detection will stop you from moving along the wall. It’s because there’s methods to stop you from going in the directions that would allow you to travel along the wall are kicking in.

It’s rather like stabbing a vertical knife into a wall then trying to pull that knife left or right.

Seeing as I only want to be stopped from going in one direction, I know have to figure out a way of overcoming this problem.

One idea was to make a small bump when you tried to walk into a wall to push you back out of the wall, allowing you to sort of nudge your way along without getting stuck in the wall. The problem is that it will only work for one wall. When all the walls are able to give a kick to push the player out of the wall again, things get messy when the character moves into the corner. Sometimes it’ll be thrown out of the map altogether.

So, I have to think of a way of halting movement when it’s not required. It should be possible with a flag system for the time being. Something more efficient can be fashioned later when everything is working correctly.

I would replace the Tile Map system but it appears to be a simple and elegant solution if I can get it working, making my work far simpler as I would simply have to make the map and not worry at all afterwards.
